Communications & Program Specialist (1 Year Term)

Coalition of Black Small & Medium Enterprises (COBSMEs) is a community-focused organization dedicated to supporting entrepreneurs and strengthening business networks through programs, events, and partnerships. Through community-outreach initiatives, we provide workshops, networking opportunities, and resources that support business growth and collaboration.
Position Summary
The Communications & Program Specialist supports program delivery while leading organizational communications and digital presence. This role blends program coordination, content creation, and social media management, while contributing to strong systems and consistent messaging across all platforms.
This is a 1-year full-time position, and the successful candidate can be based in Regina or Saskatoon with a hybrid work arrangement. Occasional evening or weekend availability may be required for events.
Key Responsibilities
Communications & Content Strategy
- Manage and coordinate organizational communications across digital platforms
- Ensure consistency in branding, messaging, and tone
- Manage COBSMEs’ social media platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and others)
- Develop and maintain a structured content calendar
- Monitor engagement and respond where appropriate
- Track and analyze engagement metrics
- Design and produce digital content for programs, campaigns, and events
- Develop promotional and storytelling videos
- Enhance visual storytelling across platforms
- Support the development of a communications strategy
Program Coordination
- Support the coordination and delivery of programs and events
- Manage participant communication, registration, and logistics
- Assist with program promotion and outreach efforts
- Track program activities and support reporting requirements
Qualifications
- Diploma or post-secondary education in Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, or a related field
- 2 to 4 years of experience in communications, social media management, or digital marketing
- Proven experience managing multi-platform social media accounts
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong understanding of digital marketing and audience engagement strategies
- Experience with graphic design tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite
- Experience in content creation including written, visual, and video
- Experience working with nonprofits, community organizations, or entrepreneurship programs is an asset
